Ingredients

2/3 c. sugar
2 c. milk
2 eggs (yolks)
1/2 tsp. vanilla
2 Tbsp. water
4 Tbsp. cornstarch
salt (pinch)
Preparation

Melt sugar (low setting) in skillet, stirring until brown (medium).
Heat milk and add to sugar.
Stir until all sugar is melted.
Mix egg yolks with cornstarch and water mixture.
Add to milk and sugar mixture.
Add salt and vanilla.
Place in baked pie shell and top with meringue.
