Chile Verde Con Carne - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 lb. round or swiss steak, cut in 1 inch cubes
    2 Tbsp. oil
    1 medium onion, chopped
    2 cloves garlic, chopped
    2 large tomatoes, peeled and chopped or 1 c. canned tomatoes
    8 fresh green chilies or 2 to 4 oz. chopped green chilies
Preparation
    Brown meat lightly in hot oil and salt to taste.
    Add onions; cook until clear.
    Add tomatoes and water to cover.
    Add garlic and chilies.
    (Two diced potatoes may be added if heartier dish is desired.)
    Simmer 45 minutes to 1 hour.
