Mama'S Poor Man'S Cornbread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. water
    ground cornbread
    pinch of salt
    water enough to make thick batter
    oil to fry the bread
    onions, finely chopped (optional)
Preparation
    Heat oil in skillet to fry temperature.
    Drop thick cornmeal batter by tablespoonful into hot oil and flatten to make individual cakes.
    Cook until brown.
    Turn and fry until brown on other side.
    Do not fry too fast so bread will cook through.
