Smoky Beef Chowder - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 stalk celery, finely chopped (1/2 c.)
    1 medium onion, finely chopped
    2 Tbsp. butter
    3 Tbsp. all-purpose flour
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. dried basil, crushed
    1 (3 oz.) pkg. thinly sliced smoked beef
    3 c. milk
    3/4 c. shredded American cheese
    1 Tbsp. snipped parsley
Preparation
    In a medium saucepan, cook chopped celery and onion in butter until onion is tender.
    Blend in flour, salt and basil.
    Stir in smoked beef.
    Add milk all at once.
    Cook and stir until thickened and bubbly.
    Stir in the shredded cheese until melted.
    Stir in parsley; heat through.
    Makes 3 to 4 servings.
