Our Favorite Caramel Corn - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. brown sugar
    1/2 c. margarine or butter
    1/4 c. dark or light corn syrup
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. soda
    1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
    3 to 4 qt. (18 c.) popped corn
Preparation
    Lightly butter two cookie sheets.
    Spray inside of paper bag with Pam.
    Place popcorn in a large brown paper grocery bag (not of recycled paper).
    In a 4-cup measuring cup, or 1 1/2-quart glass casserole, stir together the brown sugar, margarine, corn syrup and salt.
    Cook in microwave oven on full power 3 minutes.
    Stir.
    Cook 3 more minutes, add soda and stir.
    Add vanilla and stir.
    Pour this syrup over popcorn in bag, stir thoroughly with a long handled spoon.
    Place bag in microwave and cook 3 minutes, giving bag a good shake after each minute.
    Pour corn onto cookie sheet and allow to cool.
    Corn will lose stickiness as it cools.
