Old-Fashioned Peach Cobbler - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 c. sliced fresh peaches
    1 c. sugar
    1/2 c. butter or margarine
    1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
    3/4 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. shortening
    1/4 c. plus 1 Tbsp. cold water
Preparation
    Combine first 3 ingredients in a medium pan; bring to boil and cook over low heat until peaches are tender and mixture thickens. Pour peach mixture into a lightly buttered baking dish.
    Set aside.
    `Combine flour and salt; cut in shortening with a pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse meal.
    Sprinkle water evenly over flour mixture and stir well with a fork until all ingredients are moistened.
    Shape pastry into a ball.
    Cut into strips.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 35 minutes.
    Remove from oven and gently press baked pastry in peach mixture.
    Repeat in a lattice design over peaches.
    Put back in oven for 40 minutes.
