Potato Latkes - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    6 medium potatoes
    1 onion
    2 eggs
    1/2 c. flour
    1 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    pinch baking powder
    vegetable shortening for frying
Preparation
    Pare and grate potatoes into mixing bowl.
    Squeeze out excess liquid.
    Grate in onion.
    Add remaining ingredients, except shortening.
    Melt shortening in heavy pan.
    Drop batter by spoonful and fry until brown and crisp on both sides.
    Serve with sour cream, applesauce or cinnamon and sugar.
    Serves 4 to 6.
