Award Winning Sugar Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients

1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
additional sugar for coating cookies

Preparation

Heat over to 350\u00b0. Beat butter, shortening and sugar together. Add egg and vanilla. Beat well. Combine flour, baking powder and baking soda and stir into butter mixture a little at a time. Shape into 1-inch balls and roll in additional sugar. Place on greased cookie sheet and flatten them slightly with the bottom of a glass. Bake for 10-12 minutes. Cool on rack. Makes about 5 dozen cookies.
