Maydell'S Cucumber Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    6 large, ripe cucumbers
    3/4 c. lime (for pickling)
    1 gal. water
    1 qt. white vinegar
    2 lb. sugar
    1 Tbsp. salt (coarse or kosher)
    1 1/2 Tbsp. pickling spices
Preparation
    Peel and cut cucumbers in 1/2-inch strips.
    Soak 8 hours or overnight in a large pot (not aluminum) with the lime and water, then rinse with cold water; let stand 15 minutes.
