Christmas Cutouts(Portuguese) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. shortening
    1 c. sugar
    1 egg
    2 tsp. baking powder
    2 1/2 c. flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. milk
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Add sugar and egg; blend together.
    Sift baking powder, flour and salt together.
    Add to creamed mixture alternately with the milk. Stir in vanilla. Roll out 1/16-inch thick on pastry cloth. Cut in Christmas designs. Brush with egg white. Decorate. Bake at 350\u00b0 for 10 to 12 minutes.
