Totally Texas Cornbread - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 c. cornmeal
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. soda
1 c. buttermilk
2 eggs
1/3 c. melted shortening
1 (8 3/4 oz.) can cream-style corn
2 cloves garlic, chopped
5 jalapeno peppers, seeded and chopped
1 medium onion, chopped
1/2 lb. grated Cheddar cheese
1 lb. ground beef, browned and drained
Preparation

Stir first 6 ingredients together.
Add corn, garlic, jalapeno peppers and onion, mixing well.
Stir in cheese.
Lightly grease a 9 x 12-inch pan and spread with half of batter.
Spread ground beef evenly over first layer of batter.
Spread remaining batter over ground beef and bake at 325\u00b0 for 1 hour.
