Divinity Fudge - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 egg whites, room temperature
    1/8 tsp. salt
    1/3 Tbsp. cream of tartar
    3 c. sugar
    1/2 c. crystal syrup
    1 c. water
Preparation
    Cook sugar, salt and water until dissolved; add syrup and cook until soft ball stage.
    Add 1/2 to egg whites, beaten until stiff with cream of tartar.
    Continue beating while adding syrup.
    Cook remaining syrup to hard crack stage and add to egg white mixture. Add vanilla and nuts (optional).
    Beat until it begins to lose its gloss, then pour in pan and cut or drop on wax paper.
