Holiday Date Balls - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 beaten egg
    1 c. chopped dates
    3/4 c. sugar
    1/2 c. butter
    3/4 tsp. vanilla
    1/2 tsp. salt
    2 c. crisp rice cereal
    1/2 c. chopped pecans
    powdered sugar to coat
Preparation
    In large heavy saucepan over medium-high heat, cook egg, dates, sugar, butter, vanilla and salt to a thick syrup.
    Remove from heat and fold in cereal and nuts.
    Cool until comfortable to work with.
    Roll into 1-inch balls, then roll in powdered sugar to coat.
