Lady Baltimore Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

3 c. sifted cake flour
1/4 tsp. salt
3 tsp. baking powder
1/2 c. butter or shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. milk
1/2 c. water
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. almond extract
3 egg whites, beaten stiff
Preparation

Sift flour before measuring.
Add salt and baking powder; sift three times.
Cream shortening thoroughly.
Add sugar gradually. Cream together until light and fluffy.
Add flour alternately with liquid mixture a small amount at a time; beat after each addition. Add flavorings.
Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.
Bake in 2 well-greased 9-inch pans in 375\u00b0 oven 20 minutes.
Prepare filling. Spread on layers; put together.
