Deep Fried Onion Flowers - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 large onions
    1 1/4 c. flour
    1 tsp. Cajun seasoning
    1/2 tsp. basil
    1 c. milk
    1 egg
    oil (for frying)
Preparation
    Peel onions, then cut a small slice off the top.
    Starting at the top of onion and on one side, make a cut downward toward the bottom end of the onion.
    Stop 1/2-inch from bottom of onion. Make additional cuts 1/8-inch from the first until they are completely across the onion.
    Turn the onion a quarter turn so the slices are horizontal to you and repeat the 1/8-inch cuts until you have a checkerboard pattern across the onion.
