Ingredients

3/4 c. melted shortening or oil
1 c. sugar
1/4 c. molasses
1 egg
2 tsp. soda
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. ginger
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt
Preparation

Mix ingredients in order given.
Chill dough until firm enough to shape into 1 inch balls (at least 30 minutes).
Roll balls in granulated sugar.
Place on greased cookie sheet 2 inches apart and bake 10 to 14 minutes at 375\u00b0.
Cool 2 minutes and remove from pan while still warm.
