Grandma'S Borscht - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 lb. chuck steak
1 lb. stew meat
2 Tbsp. salt
5 cloves garlic, crushed or chopped fine
1 large parsnip, chopped
2 large carrots, chopped or sliced
1 large leek, chopped
several stems fresh dill weed
1 medium head cabbage, chopped coarsely
1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste (with the lady on it)
liquid from an 8 oz. can beets
Preparation

In a large soup pot, boil meats and 2 tablespoons salt in 1 gallon of water.
Skim top.
Add garlic, parsnip, carrots, leek and dill. Boil for another hour.
Remove meat to use for pirozhki or another meal. Add to the pot the cabbage, tomato paste and liquid from the can of beets.
Boil for 1 more hour.
Cut the beets and add just before serving.
