Apple Dumplings - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. flour
    4 Tbsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. salt
    sugar and cinnamon
    1 c. milk
    6 apples, peeled and cored
    4 Tbsp. shortening
Preparation
    Sift together the flour, baking powder and salt.
    Put in the shortening with fingers.
    Add milk gradually; mix to a smooth dough.
    Turn onto floured board.
    Divide into 6 portions and roll out enough to cover an apple.
    Place an apple on each piece of dough.
    Fill the space from which the core was taken with sugar and a little cinnamon.
    Wet the edges of the dough; fold them over the apple.
    Place on greased baking sheet.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for about 30 minutes.
    (Dumplings may be steamed instead of baked.)
