Transparent Pie - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 egg yolks
    3/4 c. sugar
    1 stick butter
    1 c. evaporated milk
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 partially baked pie shell
    8 Tbsp. sugar (additional)
Preparation
    Beat together egg yolks and sugar.
    Place in medium saucepan over low heat.
    Melt butter in egg mixture, stirring constantly. Remove from heat as soon as butter melts.
    Add evaporated milk and vanilla.
    Pour into crust and bake for 15 minutes at 400\u00b0.
    Then reduce heat and bake until custard is set.
    Cover pie with meringue made from 4 egg whites and 8 tablespoons of sugar. Return to oven to brown meringue.
    Watch carefully.
