Succotash - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. or more green beans (fresh, frozen or canned)
    2 oz. salt pork or bacon drippings (optional, oil can be used)
    1 c. or more whole kernel corn (yellow or white, fresh, frozen or canned)
    1/2 tsp. sugar
    1/3 c. light cream (if cream sauce is desired)
    1 Tbsp. flour (if cream sauce is desired)
Preparation
    In a saucepan combine all ingredients except cream and flour with 1/2 cup water.
    Cover and simmer 10 to 15 minutes or until done.
    Remove salt pork if used.
    Slowly blend in cream and flour; stir well.
    Cook and stir until thickened (if cream sauce is desired).
