Pickled Squash - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    8 c. sliced squash
    2 c. sliced onion
    1 Tbsp. salt
    1 c. vinegar
    1/2 c. diced bell pepper
    1 3/4 c. sugar
    1/2 tsp. each: celery and mustard seed
Preparation
    Put squash and onions in salt water and cover 1 or 2 hours. Combine pepper, vinegar, sugar and seed; bring to a boil.
    Drain water from squash and put into vinegar mixture.
    Bring to a boil again, then put in jars and seal.
