Ingredients

1 c. chopped dates
1 c. boiling water
1 tsp. soda
1 c. sugar
1/4 c. butter
1 egg, beaten until fluffy
1 1/2 c. cake flour
1 tsp. baking powder

Preparation

Soak dates in boiling water with soda.
