Chocolate Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. shortening
    2 tsp. vanilla
    5 eggs
    1 tsp. soda
    1 c. buttermilk
    2 c. sugar
    4 (1 oz.) sq. unsweetened chocolate, melted
    2 1/2 c. sifted flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 c. coarsely broken walnuts
Preparation
    Stir shortening to soften.
    Gradually add sugar; cream until light and fluffy.
    Add vanilla and chocolate; mix well.
    Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
    Sift flour, soda and salt together 3 times.
    Add to creamed mixture alternately with milk, a small amount at a time.
    Beat after each addition until smooth.
    Stir in nuts.
    Bake in 3 paper-lined 9 x 1 1/2-inch round pans at 350\u00b0 for about 3 minutes.
    Frost with desired frosting.
