24-Hour Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 head lettuce, broken into bite size pieces and towel dried
    1 onion, thinly sliced into rings
    1 lb. bacon, fried crisp and broken into pieces
    1/2 to 1/3 large cauliflower, broken into flowerets and sliced
    1/4 c. sugar
    1 c. mayonnaise or salad dressing
    1/3 c. Parmesan cheese
    croutons (optional)
Preparation
    The night before serving, layer lettuce, onion, bacon pieces and cauliflower into a large bowl that has a tight fitting lid (or use plastic wrap).
    Sprinkle sugar over top layer.
    Spread mayonnaise over top.
    Sprinkle cheese all over.
