Blackberry Jam Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. butter or margarine
    2 c. sugar
    4 eggs, beaten
    1 c. blackberry jam
    3 c. all-purpose flour
    1 tsp. soda
    1/2 tsp. each: allspice, cloves, nutmeg, cinnamon
    1 c. buttermilk
    pinch of salt
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 350\u00b0. Cream butter and sugar together until fluffy; add eggs and jam. Sift dry ingredients together twice. Add to first mixture alternately with the milk. Depending on whether layers are to be thick or thin, prepare 3 or 4 (9 inch) pans. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes until done. Stack with Caramel Icing.
