bread, cut into 1/4 to 1/2-inch cubes
2 c. milk
3 Tbsp. butter
1/4 c. sugar
2 eggs
dash of salt
1/2 tsp. vanilla
Preparation

Place bread in a buttered 1-quart baking dish.
Scald milk with butter and sugar.
Beat eggs lightly; stir in warm milk and vanilla.
Pour mixture over bread.
Set the baking dish in a pan of warm water up to level of the pudding.
Bake in a 350\u00b0 oven for about 1 hour, or until knife inserted in center comes out clean.
