Congo Bars - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. light brown sugar
    2/3 c. shortening
    3 eggs
    2 3/4 c. flour
    2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 c. chopped nuts (optional)
    1 large pkg. chocolate chips
Preparation
    Mix sugar and shortening; add eggs, one at a time.
    Beat well. Add dry ingredients.
    Add nuts and chips.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 30 minutes in greased and floured 9 x 12-inch pan.
