Hermit Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. creamed butter
    1 lb. brown sugar
    6 eggs
    3 pkg. dates (1 1/2 lb. box)
    1 1/2 lb. English walnuts (shelled out)
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1 tsp. vanilla
    juice of 1 lemon (1 Tbsp.)
    1/4 tsp. salt
    4 c. sifted flour
    1 can applesauce
Preparation
    Cream butter, sugar and eggs, one at a time.
    Add fruit previously cut and floured.
    Add salt, flour and flavorings, cut nuts and applesauce.
    Bake 3 hours at 250\u00b0.
