North Carolina Slaw - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 gal. shredded cabbage
    1 c. sugar
    1 c. vinegar
    2 Tbsp. salt
    1 tsp. black pepper
    1 pt. tomatoes
    2 large bell peppers, minced
    1/2 pt. sweet pickles, chopped
Preparation
    Combine sugar and vinegar.
    Cook over low heat.
    Stir to dissolve sugar.
    Set aside to cool.
    Mix remaining ingredients and pour sugar and vinegar over mixture.
    Set in refrigerator.
    Will last for several weeks in refrigerator.
