6 Weeks Bran Muffins - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    5 tsp. baking soda
    2 c. boiling water
    1 c. shortening
    2 c. sugar
    4 eggs
    1 qt. buttermilk
    4 c. flour
    1 tsp. salt
    4 c. all-bran cereal
    2 c. 40% Bran Flakes
    2 c. chopped dates
Preparation
    Add soda to boiling water and cool.
    Cream shortening and sugar; add eggs and soda mixture.
    Add remaining ingredients; mix well.
    Spoon into greased muffin tins.
    Bake at 375\u00b0 for 25 minutes.
    Keep remaining batter in an airtight container in refrigerator; do not stir.
    Will keep 6 weeks.
