My Mother'S Gingerbread - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 c. shortening
1 egg, beaten
1 1/2 tsp. soda
1 tsp. ginger
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. hot water
1/2 c. sugar
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
1 c. molasses
Preparation

Sift flour with soda, salt and spices.
Cream shortening and sugar until light and fluffy.
Add beaten egg and molasses.
Add sifted dry ingredients and hot water alternately.
Beat until smooth.
Pour into well-greased, floured pan.
This gingerbread may be reheated to serve hot for dinner.
Bake in a 10 x 14-inch pan in a preheated 350\u00b0 oven for 40 to 45 minutes.
