English Toffee - cooking recipe
Ingredients

6 oz. small sliced almonds
3 c. butter or margarine
4 c. sugar
1 Tbsp. salt
1 1/4 c. water
6 oz. semi-sweet chocolate or 8 oz. Hershey bar
Preparation

Brown almonds lightly on cookie sheet in the oven.
(You may change the quantity according to your taste.)
Melt butter; add sugar, salt and water.
Stir until sugar dissolves.
Cook to hard crack stage (310\u00b0F or 154\u00b0C), stirring constantly.
Add sliced, browned almonds.
Pour into greased cookie sheet and spread to about 1/4 inch thick.
Spread melted chocolate over top.
Cool. When cold, break into serving size pieces.
