Toasted Spice Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

3/4 c. shortening
3 c. brown sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs, separated
1 1/4 c. sour milk
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. cinnamon
2 1/4 c. flour
pinch of salt
1 tsp. cloves
Preparation

Blend shortening, 2 cups brown sugar, vanilla and egg yolks. Dissolve baking soda in sour milk.
Separately, sift flour and dry ingredients together four times.
All in one good beating, add sour milk and dry ingredients.
Beat egg whites until stiff and add 1 cup brown sugar.
Spread on top of raw cake and bake at 350\u00b0 for 30 minutes or until cake passes toothpick test.
