Mama'S Boiled Custard - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 gal. whole milk
    1 doz. eggs
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    2 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Warm the milk in a heavy saucepan.
    Do this very slowly and stir constantly until milk is lukewarm.
    In a bowl, beat the eggs until well beaten.
    Mix in the sugar, stir well.
    Add the egg mixture very slowly to the warm milk while stirring constantly. Cook over medium-high heat until it coats a silver spoon.
    Remove from heat.
    Stir in vanilla.
    Let cool and refrigerate.
