Buttermilk Puffs - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. flour
    1/4 c. sugar
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. soda
    1 tsp. nutmeg or mace
    1 tsp. salt
    3/4 c. buttermilk or 3/4 Tbsp. vinegar in sweet milk to make the 3/4 c. measurement
    1/4 c. cooking oil
    1 egg
Preparation
    Combine the dry ingredients.
    Stir in buttermilk, oil and egg. Beat all ingredients until smooth.
    A mixer is not necessary for this.
    A fork will do.
    Drop with teaspoon (too large puffs will not cook through) into hot fat (375\u00b0).
    Fry until golden brown, about 3 minutes.
    Drain.
    Roll warm puffs in granulated or powdered sugar.
    Makes 2 1/2 dozen.
