Icicle Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. salt
    alum
    8 c. boiling water
    handful mixed spices
    2 qt. vinegar
Preparation
    Cover with salt and water 24 hours.
    Drain and put alum size of walnut.
    Cover with boiling water, spices and vinegar.
    Boil and pour over pickles.
    Do this 4 days (just heat juice).
