Ingredients

4 slices bacon, halved
2 1/2 to 3 lb. chicken parts
1 1/2 c. small whole onions
1 envelope Lipton beef flavor mushroom soup mix
1/2 tsp. salt (if needed)
1/4 tsp. thyme
1 clove garlic, minced
1 c. Burgundy or other red wine
1 c. water
Preparation

In a large skillet, cook bacon until crisp; remove and reserve.
In drippings (if using nonstick pan, drippings aren't necessary), brown chicken.
Add bacon, onions, soup mix blended with wine, water, salt, thyme and garlic.
Simmer, stirring occasionally, 45 minutes or until chicken is tender.
Serve with rice or noodles and buttered broccoli.
