Helen C. Morlock'S Lebkuchen - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 c. light brown sugar
    2 c. white sugar
    2 c. shortening
    2 large eggs
    2 or 3 c. sour cream
    1 pt. light molasses
    2 tsp. baking soda
    5 lb. flour
    1 tsp. nutmeg
    1 tsp. allspice
    2 tsp. cinnamon
    1 tsp. cloves
    1 tsp. anise oil
    1 Tbsp. salt
    1 c. walnuts or hickory nuts
Preparation
    In separate bowl, combine the molasses and baking soda. Cream sugars and shortening
    in
    large
    bowl.
    Add
    eggs, sour cream and molasses mixture.
    Add
    flour 1 cup at a time adding the spices and anise oil after
    some of the flour is mixed in. If you are using nuts, mix
    those in also before all the flour is in. Continue adding
    the
    flour until dough does not stick to your fingers.
    Chill
    overnight.
    Roll
    out
    on\ta
    floured surface, about 1/4 inch thick.
    Cut with cookie cutters.
    Bake on lightly greased cookie sheet 10 minutes at 375\u00b0. X\tIn separage bowl, combine the molasses and baking soda.
    Cream sugars and sho Xg in large bowl.

    nuts\tbefore all the flour. Chill overnight.
