Danish Kringle - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 cake compressed yeast
    1/2 c. lukewarm water
    4 c. flour
    1 c. shortening (1/2 butter if possible)
    3 Tbsp. sugar or more
    1 tsp. salt
    3 eggs
    1 c. lukewarm milk
    brown sugar, raisins, dates or prunes and nuts
Preparation
    Dissolve
    yeast in water.
    Mix flour, shortening, sugar and salt
    as
    pie
    crust.
    Beat
    yolks and add warm milk.
    Add yeast, egg
    and
    milk
    to flour mixture and beat well.
    Cover. Place
    in refrigerator overnight.
    In morning, divide dough in 3 parts. Roll
    into
    thin strips, about 10 inches wide and 20 inches long. Spread
    with
    beaten
    egg whites, layer of brown sugar and fruit. Fold over, lengthwise, and seal edges.
    Bake about 20
    minutes
    in medium
    hot
    oven about 375\u00b0.
    Ice with powdered
    sugar
    frosting while hot.
    Spread with chopped nuts or a bit of brown sugar.
