Monte Cristo Au Gratin - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    6 slices bread
    12 slices turkey or ham or 6 slices of each
    3 eggs, lightly beaten with 2 Tbsp. water
    2 Tbsp. vegetable oil
    1 Tbsp. butter
    1 1/2 c. grated processed Swiss cheese
    1/2 c. milk
    1/2 c. mayo
    1/8 tsp. nutmeg
Preparation
    Place meat between 2 slices of bread.
    Dip sandwiches in egg mixture.
    Heat oil and butter in a frying pan; fry both sides of sandwiches until golden brown.
    Place in a baking dish.
    Combine cheese, milk, mayo and nutmeg in a saucepan.
    Heat, stirring constantly, until cheese melts and mixture is smooth.
    Pour over sandwiches and broil 6 inches form broiler for 3 to 5 minutes, until bubbly.
    Makes 3 servings.
