Golden Pilaf - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 medium carrots
1 medium onion, chopped
1/4 c. margarine or butter
2 1/4 c. water
1 c. uncooked regular rice
1 Tbsp. instant chicken broth
1/2 tsp. curry powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. thyme leaves
1/4 c. toasted slivered almonds (optional)
Preparation

Cut carrots in 1/4-inch strips and then 1-inch pieces.
Cook and stir onion in margarine in 2-quart saucepan until tender. Add carrots, water, rice and rest of the ingredients.
Heat to boiling, stirring once or twice.
Reduce heat.
Cover and simmer for 15 minutes. Remove from heat.
Fluff rice and let steam for 5 to 10 minutes. Top with almonds.
