Eggless, Milkless, Butterless Fruitcake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. brown sugar
    1 c. hot water
    1 1/2 c. raisins
    1/3 c. shortening
    2 c. flour
    1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1/4 tsp. nutmeg
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1 tsp. cloves
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1 (8 oz.) can maraschino cherries
    1 c. nuts
Preparation
    Mix all ingredients, except flour, baking powder, baking soda and nuts.
    Cook on top of stove for three minutes.
    Let cool.
    Add flour, baking soda, baking powder and nuts.
    Mix well.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 50 to 55 minutes.
