Dried Apple Stack Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 eggs
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    3 c. flour
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 c. butter
    3/4 c. buttermilk
    1 tsp. soda
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. nutmeg
    dried apples
    1 c. sugar to taste
    1/2 tsp. cinnamon
    1/2 tsp. cloves
    1/2 tsp. allspice
    1/4 tsp. ginger
Preparation
    Cream butter, add 1 1/2 cups sugar.
    Add eggs and mix well. Sift dry ingredients and add, alternating with milk, to mixture. Knead to cookie dough consistency.
    Add more flour if dough is too soft to pat into ball (golf ball size).
    Put in 8-inch cake pans. Preheat oven to 375\u00b0.
    Bake until light brown, cool.
    Stack with dried apples cooked until tender with sugar and spices.
    Four or five high works well.
