Boiled Custard - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    6 to 8 eggs, beaten
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    2 tsp. flour
    1/2 gal. milk
    2 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Mix 1/2 cup sugar and the 2 tablespoons flour and hold. Heat milk and
    1
    cup
    sugar.
    Add
    the
    eggs, which have been beaten. Add the sugar-flour mixture.
    Cook in a double boiler until thick enough
    to
    coat a spoon, or thicker, if desired. Cool and add vanilla.
