Walnut Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. all-purpose flour
    1 c. sugar
    4 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. salt
    3/4 c. shortening
    1 1/2 c. chopped walnuts, divided
    1 egg, beaten
    1 1/2 c. milk
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Sift flour into mixing bowl.
    Add sugar, baking powder and salt.
    Cut in shortening.
    Add egg, milk and vanilla; mix until blended.
    Add 1 1/4 cups walnuts.
    Pour into a greased and floured 9 x 5-inch loaf pan.
    Sprinkle remaining 1/4 cup walnuts over top. Bake at 350\u00b0 for 60 to 70 minutes.
    Let stand in pan 10 minutes. Turn out onto wire rack to cool.
    Makes one loaf.
