12 Bean Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. mixed beans
    10 c. water
    1 medium onion, chopped
    1 c. carrots, chopped
    1 c. celery , chopped
    1 or 2 smoked ham hocks
    1/2 tsp. curry
    pinch of fennel
    salt and pepper
Preparation
    Wash beans.
    Add beans and ham to water in large kettle.
    Add onions, carrots, celery and seasonings.
    Simmer 3 hours, covered. Given to me by a Swiss friend.
