Dumplings - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. sifted all-purpose flour
    1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    2 Tbsp. shortening
    1/3 c. milk
    1 egg, beaten
Preparation
    Sift together first 3 ingredients into a bowl. Cut shortening in with pastry blender until crumbly. Pour in milk. Add egg. Mix only until flour is dampened; dough should be lumpy. Drop by spoonfuls on top of boiling stew meat. Cover tightly and steam 12 minutes without removing cover. Makes 6 large dumplings.
