Sopaipillas - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 c. sifted flour
    2 Tbsp. shortening
    1 1/2 tsp. salt
    1 1/4 c. scalded milk
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. granulated sugar
    1 cake compressed yeast or pkg. dry
    1/4 c. warm water
Preparation
    Combine dry ingredients.
    Cut in shortening.
    Dissolve yeast in warm water and scalded milk (be sure milk has cooled down before putting into yeast).
    Make well in dry ingredients.
    Add liquid to dry ingredients and work into the dry ingredients.
    Work into dough.
    Knead dough for 15 or 20 minutes.
    Set aside for approximately 10 minutes.
    Roll dough to 1/4-inch thick or less. Cut into squares or triangles and deep fry in melted shortening. If too hot, they will puff and become hollow shortly after adding to fat.
    Drain on paper towel.
    May take a little more flour to knead better.
