Ingredients

1 box buttermilk
4 eggs
2 tsp. lard
3 c. sugar
2 tsp. salt
4 tsp. soda
4 tsp. baking powder
flour to stiffen
Preparation

Beat eggs until fluffy.
Cream in sugar and lard.
Beat until creamy; add milk, salt, soda and baking powder.
Mix well, then add flour until able to roll out.
Cut out with a glass and thimble.
Fry in hot lard until light brown.
Roll in sugar or confectioners sugar.
Makes about 6 to 8 dozen.
