Savory Stewed Chicken With Never Fail Dumplings - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 chicken (4 or 5 lb.)
    water
    1 chopped onion
    1 or 2 ribs celery with leaves
    2 tsp. salt
    1/8 tsp. pepper
Preparation
    Clean and cut up chicken.
    Place in kettle with just enough water to cover.
    Add onion, celery, salt and pepper.
    Simmer gently for 2 to 3 hours.
    Add water as necessary.
    Remove chicken and cool.
    Take chicken from bone and return to liquid.
    Bring back to a boil.
    Drop dumplings, by spoonful, into boiling liquid and cook, covered, for 15 minutes.
